Better light means better play on Bosse Sports’ indoor courts.
When Dj Bosse opened his spectacular Bosse Sports in 2001, he chose to think differently about what a suburban sports club could be. With unique features including a two story rockwall, indoor golf practice facility and indoor tennis courts complete with APT Tour-level surfaces, it was clear that this was no ordinary fitness club. Other touches like the bamboo floor of the fitness center spoke to a growing focus on sustainability.
“We are excited about environmentally-friendly initiatives,” said Dj. When the time came to revisit the lighting for his indoor tennis courts, he turned to ThinkLite.
“We have much better light quality, we are saving thousands on our electric bill every month, and we’re doing something good for the environment.” – Dj Bosse
“Dj was impressed with our proprietary technology that allows us to retrofit the existing T5 and T8 fluorescent fixtures with ThinkLite LED tubes.” said Dinesh Wadhwani, ThinkLite CEO.
Retaining the existing fixtures is a far more sustainable option and immediately provided Bosse Sports with an approximately 60% reduction in energy consumption and the elimination of lamp and ballast maintenance for up to 15 years. ThinkLite’s driverless design yields light levels of 131 lumens per watt, making it the most energy efficient solution for all areas of the facility, including the tennis courts and indoor pool that used T5 fluorescent lamps initially.
Commenting on the installation, Dj noted, “ThinkLite was extremely professional, met all deadlines and kept ups informed with great communication. We needed to expedite the installation in some areas to eliminate downtime, and they were always responsive and accommodating.”
The bottom line impact certainly did not go unnoticed as electric consumption dropped significantly. Another financial benefit of this project was the significant cash incentive rebate that ThinkLite secured for this project from Eversource. The rebate covered 70% of the entire project, accelerating the payback period to just 1.07 years.
“We have much better light quality, we are saving thousands on our electric bill every month, and we’re doing something good for the environment.” said Dj. “We are very pleased with the outcome and are looking to install ThinkLite’s solutions in some additional areas of the facility.”
