60 Minutes Segment Addresses the Indoor Air Quality Crisis
What We Learned From the COVID Pandemic
On October 30, 60 Minutes aired an important segment about indoor air quality. Interviews with Professor Joseph Allen of Harvard’s Chan School of Public Health, whose focus is healthy buildings, and Virginia Tech Professor Linsey Marr, whose research has focused on airborne transmission of infectious disease, explain how tens of thousands of lives could have been saved during the COVID pandemic if we had understood how the virus traveled through the air, well beyond 6-feet.
Professor Allen explains that while the United States has made significant progress in many facets of public health, including water quality, outdoor air pollution, food safety, and sanitation, indoor air quality has largely been ignored.
Dr. Marr demonstrated how viruses spread through the air using a portable fogger and how ventilation systems reduced airborne disease transmission.
Both experts identified an increased number air exchanges in the HVAC system as one of the critical elements of good indoor air quality management. The research supports what ThinkLite Air has known for years: indoor air quality matters for the health and safety of your building occupants.
